I did the mission a lot when I was going for the Elona Mapping title... and I don't think I even got one armor remnant. Brb Gonna go post my own thread whining about it.

Err, I'm afraid you might have to kill more then just 4 maddened. I notice when I last longer i get more armors. A good tactic is to stick by a greater infestation when you think a spirit is gonna come. Once you see the spirit, you should have weakened it before hand and kill it. Toss a siege at the maddened spirit, throw a rock (wand or staff) and then hit skill #3, the bite. You can kill them using this and only take damage once at most if done correctly.

When I was mapping the area, I left with 4-6 armors.

You have a higher chance of getting the armor remnants from the Lost Souls. Trying going for them.

it's just you.
i mapped this zone, played the game, and got 5 armor pieces over the course of, eh, 1-2 hrs.
now, from a game balance perspective, i would guess that they back-load it to prevent farming, such that if you stay alive longer and score higher, you have increasing chance to get ancient armors, but there's nothing documented about that. stay alive as long as you can, and kill as many maddened spirits as possible without dying. my last run i stayed alive to 117 pts, and got like 2-3 armors in 1 run.
follow the advice on the wiki article and you should be able to succeed quite nicely with an hour or so of play. but don't get all antsy about getting the armors -- play the game and enjoy it for what it is, and focus on scoring as high as you can, and the armors will come with time.

This is the fundamental problem, really. Junundu, for me, are about the least fun thing in the entire game. I suck with them horribly, for one thing, and they're always the same so there's nothing I can do to suck less. I've followed all the wiki advice but I've still only ever cracked 100 once. I fear that is required for the remnants, and is thus the source of the problem, but I really, really don't want to have to do that again. Ah well. I should quit bitching and go play.
Sorry for the QQ thread, folks. Move along, nothing to see here.
Edit: FYI, just went ahead and bought them. I'll have a lot more fun and a lot less frustration making back the money spent than I would continuing to bang my head against this particular wall.

Well they're not always exactly the same. They either have or don't have Seige.
So I suppose there's 2 types.
As for the mission. I don't find the armor drops there to be particularly rare...

Heavy antifarm code has existed in this mission even back at NF release. The first couple of runs had a high chance of dropping 1 or more armors but if you continued playing and finished with similar scores the chances for getting even one armor were going near zero.

AFAIK, Lost Souls don't drop armors anymore, and even if they did they're a pain in the ass to hunt down.

I think Shadow nexus has even worse drop rates. Three to go...
As for the best way to kill the spirits: Have full adrenaline when it appears, kill greater infestation before spirit reaches you, smack it down with smash, get 500 health with bite and finish it of with strike. Repeat until there are two or three of them at the same time. No idea how anyone ever got 1000 points in this place.

Shadow Nexus drops are decent, until you get the last armor you need. Then it's about nonexistant. I got four armors in one run there last week. Haven't gotten another since.

That's the way the code works-they didn't want you farming and selling hero armour, so you should get about 3-4 drops (Enough for yourself) before the drop rate nose-dives for you.

Shadow Nexus is pretty easy too if you max out LB.

its pure luck really as seen above. i mapped it and played it a few times and not one remnant. Depends on how lucky you get just like most drops.

You don't even really need to max LB for that one, at least in NM. It's a fairly easy matter to get a score in the 150-range, which is all you seem to need to have a chance at an armor piece.

Scores are irrelevant to drops. It's based on killing a specific creature in the mission.

All I know is I've never gotten an armor piece from Shadow Nexus without having cracked 100 and then killed a portal mage.
